On March 12, 2015, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Ventura and Ventura County Credit Union presented the annual State of the City address at the top of the harbor ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach.
Almost 200 people, from Chamber board members, ambassadors, young professionals, and City officials came to hear Mayor Cheryl Heitmann’s address, which was titled “On the Right Track.” In her presentation, Mayor Heitmann presented a video which recapped the City’s many accomplishments in 2014; in particular, four key priorities were identified: Creating and Maintaining Economic Development and Vitality, Delivering Core Services, A Safe and Clean Ventura, and Enhancing Public Trust. Mayor Heitmann then spoke about the City’s outlook for 2015. In the coming year, the City of Ventura has many goals including: Further developing the Residential Growth Management Strategy, Focus Area One – Developing on the land behind the Ventura Auto Center, Connecting Olivas Park Drive to Johnson Drive, Enhancing Ventura’s economic strength in the construction industry by developing the Marriott Residence Inn, the Hilton, and the new Kaiser Permanente building, and finally, focusing on two of the biggest issues identified by Ventura residents – Water and Homelessness.
